FIVE THINGS TO DO TO PREVENT MALARIA

It is a common saying that every Nigerian has malaria. Therefore, what can we do to prevent malaria from affecting us? Malaria as we all know is a serious mosquito borne disease which is usually caused by a parasitic protozoa also known as mosquito. This article would suggest to you 5 things to do to prevent against malaria.
  1. Make your home/surroundings a fortress: cleanliness they say is next to Godliness. A clean environment would hardly have mosquitoes if it is well taken care of. Remove any object that contains damp water, this is because water may be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Take away dirty clothes as soon as possible, take out waste bins, and avoid anything dirt related. This would go a long way in keeping mosquitoes away.
  2. Get a mosquito net: we recommend the use of mosquito net to protect your bed. This is very essential, especially for young infants, pregnant women, and every other person. This is also required especially if you are the type that sleeps with your windows open. We recommend that you don’t just use the ordinary mosquito net, but the treated mosquito net. Also use mosquito mesh for your window, it’ll prevent mosquitoes from entering your house when the windows are open.
  3. Get a mosquito repellent and use it at least twice in a week. Mosquito repellent prevent mosquitoes to a very large extent, it has been proven that mosquito repellents are the most effective in keeping mosquitoes away from your house. Use products that contain at least 30% of concentration for adults, and 10% for infants. We also recommend you use an anti-mosquito cream/oil for your body. Camphor is also a very good mosquito repellent. Mosquitoes can’t stand camphor’s, take a bowl of water, put a few amount of camphor in it and keep it in your room. This homemade method would chase the mosquitoes away. You can also use the water on your floors as a disinfectant. Do this 2-3 times a week.
  4. Go for a medical check-up at least twice a year: going for a medical check-up and examinations can help detect problems before they start. Getting the right services and treatments would assist you in living a healthier life. By doing this, it’ll help you prevent against breaking down. It’ll detect an early occurrence of malaria in your body.
  5. Drink lots of water daily, take fruits, and vegetables: water is vital for life, it is the ultimate medication to cure pain and prevent diseases. Taking at least 2-3 litres of water a day would help prevent diseases that hit the body system. Fruits and vegetables on the other hand provide a significant part of human nutrition. Taking these nutrients helps to build up the body immune system which in turn would be a key tool in fighting diseases that affect the body.
